These are the rules for using ChristmasGiftSwap. They are short on purpose.

What this is

A free tool for running a family Christmas gift exchange: drawing names, keeping wishlists, and privately tracking what you are buying. It is free to use, there is no payment, and we are not planning to charge families for it.

Your account

You need to be an adult to create an account. Keep your password to yourself — anyone with it can see your family’s exchange. Tell us at hello@christmasgiftswap.com if you think somebody else has got into your account.

Other people’s information

Most of what you enter here is about other people, often children. Please add only what the exchange needs, use first names or nicknames for children, and do not enter anybody’s information if they would object to you doing so. If someone in your family asks you to remove them, please remove them.

What you put here

What you write stays yours. We store and display it so the product can work — showing a wishlist to the person who drew you, for instance. Please do not use the site to store anything unlawful, or anything abusive about another person.

Receipts you upload

The Receipt Vault is for proof of purchase — a till slip, an order confirmation, a warranty card. Please do not upload documents containing information the vault does not need: bank statements, anything with a full card number, identity documents or medical paperwork. A receipt is enough.

Return and warranty dates are the ones you type in. We do not know any shop’s return policy, we do not check it, and we are not responsible for whether a shop accepts a return. Treat the dates here as your own note to yourself, and check with the retailer if it matters.

Shopping links

Some links lead to shops and some of those may earn us a commission; the affiliate disclosure explains it. We do not sell anything ourselves. Anything you buy is between you and that shop, on their terms — including price, delivery, returns and refunds. Prices we mention are our own rough estimates, not a shop’s price, and they are not live.

What we do not promise

We run this carefully and we back it up, but it is a free tool, provided as it is. We cannot promise it will never be unavailable, never lose anything, or never contain a mistake. If your Christmas depends on the draw happening on a particular evening, please do it a little early.

We may change or stop parts of the site. If something is going away that families are relying on, we will say so on the site first.

Ending it

You can stop using ChristmasGiftSwap whenever you like, and ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it — see Privacy. We may close an account that is being used to abuse somebody or to attack the site.
